Friday the 7th of February 26 french trotters stallions paraded at Saint-Lô Equestrian Pole. Many animations, 23 exhibitors and 15 stud farms completed the trade show.
Previously named Saint-Lô French trotters stallions trade show, the now famous meeting evolved to gather all actors of this equine sector: stud farms and breeders but also suppliers and all kind of service providers.
The trade show was organised by the Normandy Horse Council in partnership with Saint-Lô Equestrian Pole and Graignes horse racing school – AFASEC whose students had the opportunity to handle the stallions during the show.
This document presents detailed data of the equine industry in Normandy. The document is only available in French.
President of the Normandy Horse Council and the Pôle Hippolia, Laurence Meunier was named to the National Order of the Legion of Honour thanks to her commitment for the equine industry.
In order to accompany the actors of the equine industry in their process of structuration and valorisation, the regional representatives renewed their support to the Normandy Horse Council for the implementation of its action plan 2020-2022.
Due to the global health crisis impacting France, the equine industry faced major difficulties. Stables being locked and events (races and shows) being cancelled or reported, equine entreprises were facing major problems regarding finances but also human and animal welfare and security due to lack of staff available and lack of spaces available for grazing.
The government and the Normandy Region putted in place measures to support business and the Normandy Horse Council is accompanying the professionals of the equine industry in Normandy. Detailed and daily updated information was published on its website and on social networks. An online form and a hotline are also dedicated to answer questions and accompany people and a first evaluation of the economic impact of the crisis was published (the document is only available in French).
The meeting will be divided in three parts:
The EquuRES Label (led by the Normandy Horse Council) and the National Charter for equine welfare (led by the FNC) now have an official equivalency agreement to encourage professional into improvement processes.
